What About Us?

Tracy

Hi world, I’m Tracy, a hippie liberal who has a lifelong dream to save the world. I never thought blogs would be my forte. But what I have always known is food, politics, and every trend to be known as “eco-friendly”. On the brink of college graduation, I decided to step back and take the time to do all the things I enjoy. That first off, has always been food. Although my desire of managing my own eco-friendly bakery is yet to exist, my mostly vegan diet has led me to a healthier and happier lifestyle (and don’t worry, still full of chocolate). And when I’m not eating, I’m usually working on a way to sneak into the White House or just leading the nearest protest on clean energy…and I tend to be eating while doing either of those things. I stand up for what I believe in and tend to be known as the token treehugger amongst my friends and the one that never lets a birthday go without a cake. In short, I love food, life, positive vibes, Barack Obama (when our policies agree) and of course, my partner in crime.

Marla

Marla, 22, college graduate – my life is fueled by food and fashion. I frequently find myself tangled within the racks at Loehmann’s while on a hunt for the perfect cropped sweater. Similarly, my taste for southern food is insatiable as biscuits seemingly pop up in the kitchen whenever I’m around.

With that said, there is no manual that requires one to be an unshaven, barefoot, liberal college student in order to be a vegan/and/or/vegetarian. It is the equivalent to saying that just because someone is a “meat-a-tarian” they should wear flannel, reside in Kansas, and own German Shepherds. Connections between fashion and food choice are neither here nor there. I don’t live in a tent in the woods, I wear real clothes (that are not handcrafted from hemp), my diet does not consist of rabbit food (i.e. carrots and celery). And as for labels, let’s save those for Stella handbags, shall we?

So anyways, after several late-night conversations, while running on little-to-no-sleep, my roommate and I decided that we needed to stop talking to each other about food, and start sharing with the world our love for all things tasty and to-die-for. It’s no mistake that we have deemed ourselves Pinky & the Brain; me being Pinky of course, what with my obsession with shoes and cupcakes, and Tracy, the brain obviously, with her knack for politics and protests. Don’t underestimate me however, I don’t have my religion listed as “Shakespeare” on facebook for nothing.

  2. Is that you!

Coffee and a carrot raisin nut muffin, is where it all began.
    Now it’s baking your own.
